So, who needs a QR code the most?

22/12/10

We thought we'd look at the lighter side of the humble QR code and ask - 'who needs one the most?

And then we got a bit carried away...

Is it, A) Waitrose to help launch their Christmas 2010 app via the Metro newspaper?

Or is it B) Aladin's Curry House on Brick Lane to replace their catchy BBC h2g2 url?

Our thoughts?

Love Waitrose, love Christmas, love apps. But we also love curry. Hmm tricky territory.

Christmas lasts a few days, it’s the ultimate ‘campaign’ so why not throw in a QR code to generate a bit of ‘technology Vs audience’ banter around the launch of a tactical app?

The curry house on the other hand is there 24/7 and there is something quite charming and prideful about the random BBC h2g2 url in lights... it’s authentic and memorable for that very reason.

Which leaves us  to conclude that both can easily live without a QR code and still succeed but it’s likely that both will be talked about more, if they use one.
